Slow Cooker Chicken Marinara

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 large sweet onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • kosher salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper and place into the bottom of a slow cooker.

  • Add the garlic, onions, and seasonings, then pour the sauce on top of the chicken.
    1 large sweet onion, 3 cloves fresh garlic, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried basil, ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-6 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  • Shred the chicken.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

  • Garnish with chopped fresh basil or fresh parsley if desired.
