Use an electric mixer or hand mixer to beat the cream cheese until it is light and fluffy.
8 ounces cream cheese
Add the milk and the pudding mix and beat until the pudding is thick and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
Use a rubber or silicone spatula to gentle fold half of the whipped topping into the pudding and cream cheese mixture.
1 16-ounce tub whipped topping
Pour the pudding mixture on top of the crushed Oreos in the pan.
Top with the remaining whipped topping and the rest of the cookie crumbs.
Chill for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
Notes
Variations
Get creative with different Oreo cookie flavors. Mint, Peanut Butter, Birthday Cake, and Golden Oreo cookies would all taste great in this easy no-bake dessert.
For chocolate lovers, substitute chocolate pudding for the vanilla pudding.
Make it extra decadent with a drizzle of caramel sauce or chocolate syrup on top.
Instead of making a large pan, add the creamy and crunchy layers to individual cups.

Crush it. You can use a food processor to crush the Oreo cookies but don't pulverize them into dust. You can also place the cookies into a zip-top bag and use a rolling pin to crush them.
Soften it. Soften the cream cheese before you begin. The simplest way is to place it on the countertop for about 30-45 minutes before you plan to use it. You can cut down on that time a little bit if you cut it into even slices. I don't recommend microwaving cream cheese to soften it because it won't soften evenly, and it's easy to melt the cream cheese by accident.
Don't over-mix. Overmixing will cause the whipped topping to deflate and the pudding to become tough. Use a rubber spatula to carefully fold the pudding and whipped topping together.
Chill out. Allow the Oreo dirt cake to chill in the fridge for 3-4 hours for the flavors to all come together. My personal favorite is the second day when the Oreo crumbs start to soften into the creamy pudding mixture.
