Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 9x13 casserole dish using nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl that is microwave safe, add the broccoli and water.
1 bag fresh broccoli florets, ½ cup water
Season the broccoli with a little salt and black pepper.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a vented lid, and microwave on high for 4-6 minutes, stirring halfway.
Cook until the broccoli is tender, and drain well. Excess water will make the casserole soggy.
Place the tender broccoli into the prepared baking dish.
In another large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch dressing until well combined.
1 package cream cheese, 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup prepared ranch dressing
Add half of the cheese and season with salt and pepper.
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Stir your cream cheese mixture into the broccoli and smooth into an even layer.
Top with the reminaing shredded cheese.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
