Broiled New York Strip Steak

The perfect Broiled New York Strip Steak starts with a sear on the stovetop in a grill pan, then it's finished in the oven until it's cooked to perfection. Serve with garlic herb butter!

  • 2 8oz New York Strip Steaks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic herb butter

Instructions

  • Allow steaks to come to room temperature on the counter about 30 minutes before cooking.
    2 8oz New York Strip Steaks
  • Rub with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
    1 tablespoon olive oil, ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons salt
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C).
  • While the oven preheats, heat a cast iron grill pan on the stovetop over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes.
  • When the oven is almost preheated, melt the butter in your grill pan.

  • Add the steaks to your cast iron pan being sure to place them in a single layer and sear for 2 minutes until browned with grill marks on the bottom. Flip and repeat on the other side.
  • Once searing is complete, transfer the pan to the oven and bake for 2 to 6 minutes or when they reach your preferred level of doneness.
