If you're like me, you've been spending the last few days thinking about all that has happened in 2023 and what might be different in 2024.
I'm not big on resolutions, but I do get excited about actionable goals (one of which includes this decluttering challenge).
But before I can move on from last year, there's one last thing to do, and that's to share what YOU, my amazing readers, have loved the most this year.
1. Ruth Chris Steak Butter
Ruth Chris Steak Butter - Since I know how much my readers love compound butter, I developed a new copycat recipe in 2022 that dominated in 2023. If you've ever been to Ruth's Chris Steak House, then you're probably familiar with this yummy garlic steak butter.
Like Cowboy Butter, it's wonderful on all kinds of meats, veggies, pasta, and makes fabulous garlic bread. Try it with a recipe from 2022 for Broiled New York Strip Steak.
2. John Wayne Casserole
John Wayne Casserole - please welcome a newcomer to the list that surprised us all! This cheesy casserole is a throwback from a cookbook that was popular in 1979. It's a hearty beef casserole that the whole family will love (even if they don't know anything about John Wayne!)
Please note: We do not agree with the racist sentiments that John Wayne expressed during his lifetime.
3. Oven Roasted Pork Tenderloin
Oven Roasted Pork Tenderloin - Not only is this on our top ten list, but it's on my meal plan just about every other week because it's so delicious. My family gobbles this up every single time I make it. The secret is, of course, the Cowboy Butter which keeps the pork moist and adds loads of flavor.
4. Make Ahead Brown Sugar Sweet Potatoes
Make Ahead Brown Sugar Sweet Potatoes - with just 15 minutes of prep time, this easy mashed sweet potato recipe is perfect any night of the week. We also updated the recipe this year to include slow cooker instructions.
This sweet potato recipe is popular year round, but is a fan favorite around holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. It's such an easy and delicious recipe. If you haven't tried this one yet, you have to add it to your next meal plan.
5. Sheet Pan Pancakes
Sheet Pan Pancakes with Pancake Mix - New in 2021, this recipe was immediately popular. It's such a super easy way to make a whole lot of pancakes at one time.
These easy pancakes are delicious served with maple bacon butter or brown sugar butter. For an extra special treat, try our homemade whipped cream.
6. Potato Sausage Casserole
Potato Sausage Casserole - tender potatoes and spicy sausage in a cheesy cream sauce is always a hit with my family. You'll love the buttery cracker topping on this wholesome comfort food meal.
This casserole got an overhaul in 2022 with new images and continues to be a reader favorite even after ten years! It also inspired this new ground sausage recipes post.
7. Puff Pastry Chicken
Puff Pastry Chicken - With a creamy filling, these chicken pockets are an awesome snack for game day and are great for potlucks and parties. They're also pretty awesome as a meal with a side salad. You really can't go wrong with these!
And if you love puff pastry, you have to check out our asparagus puff pastry recipe, new for 2022. It's super easy but looks so elegant for parties and holiday dinners.
8. Cowboy Butter
Cowboy Butter - from grilled meats and veggies to wings, garlic bread and more, our Cowboy Butter is one of our most loved recipes.
While this recipe only contains a few simple ingredients, it's one with some major staying power as it's been on our top 10 recipe list since we first shared it back in 2014.
Over the years, we've developed loads of recipes using this flavorful compound butter including:

9. Petite Sirloin
Petite Sirloin - Confession - I'd rather eat petite sirloin than filet mignon. True story! It's so tender and a fraction of the cost. This recipe, made with our popular Cowboy Steak Rub, made it's debut in 2019 and has been a beloved recipe ever since.
10. Cheesy Tater Tots
Cheesy Tater Tots - this easy side dish or game day snack has been on the website for many years and made its debut to the top ten list after we revamped it last year.
This delicious dish uses ranch seasoning to add lots of flavor. You can easily change it up to suit your tastes with taco seasoning or even magic dust seasoning!
Honorable Mentions
While these recipes didn't make our top ten list, they're some of my personal favorites.
- Mermaid Drink - Using Midori and Blue Curacao, this fun Blue-Green Lemon Drop cocktail is great for summertime. With a little sugar syrup, lemon and vodka, you've got yourself a fruity drink that's worthy of any mermaid!
- Red Velvet Cake Balls - Our readers really like sweets, which is good because I love developing dessert recipes (especially the taste testing part!) These Red Velvet Cake Balls are a great Christmas or Valentine's Day treat. They're super easy to make, and are a nice homemade gift, too! Year after year, they continue to be a big hit with readers.
- Honey Teriyaki Chicken Wings - This recipe goes way back to my very early days in blogging. It got a makeover this Fall with new images. The recipe itself hasn't changed because these are the best baked wings I've ever tasted!
- Authentic Italian Meatball Recipe - this is my husband's recipe and has been a reader favorite for the last couple of years, but was edged out by a few new things this year.
- Tropical Storm Rum Punch Cocktail - Not to be outdone, our original rum cocktail is still on the top ten list after almost a decade! It's made with passion fruit rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, along with a few other tasty ingredients. If this doesn't scream luau, I don't know what does!
Surprise No-Shows
Pumpkin Cheesecake Truffles
Pumpkin Cheesecake Truffles - Last year, our number one post blew everything else out of the water. These delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake Truffles went viral in 2021 and in 2022 we revamped the post with step-by step photos.
While this post has been on our top 10 recipes list for years, it sadly slid off! Despite the slip, these pumpkin cheesecake bites are absolutely incredible! After all, who can resist the combination of pumpkin spice and cheesecake??
Cowboy Steak Rub Recipe
Cowboy Steak Rub Recipe - a mixture of 8 spices and herbs, a little brown sugar and a bit of coffee (yep, you read that right) are all you need to make this.
The spicy and smoky seasoning mix is one of Mr. Juggling Act's favorite to use, especially during grilling season.
While this is still one of our top recipes, it fell off our top ten list this year.

Best NEW Recipes from 2023
The John Wayne Casserole mentioned above was the only new recipe in 2023 to make our top 10 list. However, these delicious new recipes deserve a mention. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two of these on the top recipes of 2024 list in the future!
