It's Friday night and your wallet says you can't eat out but you're craving takeout.

    I got you.

This fried rice recipe is quick and easy and a great way to use up leftovers from earlier in the week!

❤️ Why You'll Love Our Recipe

    • You don't need a wok or other special equipment to recreate this takeout favorite at home.
    • As long as you're using
    • Use whatever frozen or fresh vegetables your family likes best.
    • Swap out the steak for other kinds of protein like chicken, shrimp, or tofu. It's also great with ground beef or ground turkey, too.

    🧂 Ingredients

This is meant to be a brief overview of this great recipe. For step-by-step instructions, and a full printable recipe card with ingredients and measurements, please scroll down to the teal box below.

    • sirloin steak - I like to stock up when it's on sale and pop it into the freezer. You can also use leftover steak.
    • fresh garlic and ginger - these aromatics add tons of flavor.
    • rice - for best results, use day-old rice which will have less moisture.
    • frozen mixed vegetables - my family likes a mix of corn, carrots, and green beans but you can also add mushrooms, peppers, peas, or broccoli.
    • large eggs - be sure to beat them before adding to the pan. The eggs can be omitted if you prefer.
    • Seasonings: salt and black pepper, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil. Note, sesame oil adds a nice nutty flavor but a little goes a long way!

    🔪 Instructions

    1. In a large skillet, season the steak with salt and pepper, then brown.
    2. Remove the steak from the pan. Cook the onion, garlic, and ginger.
    3. Add the veggies and cook 3-4 minutes, then add the eggs to cook.
    4. Stir in the rice and steak along with the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Cook 2-3 minutes more
    5. Serve hot with green onions.

    ⭐ Ang's Tips

✔️ If you do not have oyster sauce, use fish sauce, hoisin sauce, or extra soy sauce instead.

✔️ If you like really crispy rice, grab a second skillet and add a little bit of oil and the cooked rice. Set the burner to medium high heat. Use a spatula to press the rice flat into the pan. Cook 4-5 minutes, then flip the rice to cook on the other side.

    🍲 Storage

To Store: Leftover steak fried rice should be stored in an airtight container. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)

To Reheat: Microwave individual portions in 30 second intervals until heated throughout.

I have added additional eggs for a meatless Monday version or even eaten it for a light breakfast that is filling. This is one of my favorite recipes.
