Mr. Juggling Act is a HUGE fan of buffalo wings, and loves our Make Ahead Buffalo Chicken Dip.  Our readers love it too, and this Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken recipe is a simplified version that can be used in a variety of recipes.

    This slow cooker Buffalo chicken recipe is perfect to use as part of your weekly meal plan. This is not just for football season! It's so easy to make sandwiches and wraps, salads and much more with this recipe.

    With just these simple ingredients, you can make one of the best chicken recipes ever!

    • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
    • Dry Ranch Seasoning Mix
    • Butter
    • Buffalo Sauce (I use Frank's)
    • Cream Cheese (optional)

    🔪Instructions

    You're going to love how easy it is to pull together in just a few minutes. All you need to get started is a couple pounds of chicken breasts, butter, ranch seasoning mix and Buffalo sauce, of course. Then, set your slow cooker and when dinnertime rolls around, you're good to go!

    1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
    2. Place the chicken breasts into the slow cooker.
    3. In a liquid measuring cup, mix the ranch seasoning and Buffalo sauce and pour over the chicken.
    4. Place the butter on top of the chicken and cover.
    5. Set the Crockpot to cook for 4 hours on HIGH or 6 hours on LOW.
    6. Stir in the softened cream cheese (optional).
    7. Carefully remove the slow cooker Buffalo chicken from the crock and place it on a cutting board.
    8. Use two forks to shred chicken.

    This recipe will yield about 3-4 cups of shredded chicken. The average serving is ⅓ cup.

    The possibilities for meal ideas are kind of endless with this awesome crockpot buffalo chicken!  Here are a couple of ideas you can use for dinner tonight:

    • Easy Sandwiches: Add the shredded chicken to hamburger buns, top with cheddar cheese and serve with an extra drizzle of Buffalo sauce. You'll also love our Buffalo chicken ranch wraps.
    • Tasty Tacos: Serve with blue cheese, slivered red onion, chopped tomatoes, lettuce and cilantro.
    • Stuffed Baked Potato: Pile buffalo chicken on top of baked potatoes with shredded colby or pepper jack, chives and sour cream. (Also delicious with sweet potatoes!)

    ⏲️ Storage

    This is such an amazing make ahead recipe! The chicken will last in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. (These are my favorite containers.)

    Leftovers can be frozen and used later. Add the shredded chicken to a resealable freezer bag.  Store in the freezer for 2-3 months. To thaw, remove the bag from the freezer and place it in the refrigerator overnight.

    However, the next time you make it, you might consider one of these different ways of making this great recipe.

    • For a little extra heat, add a bit of cayenne pepper or pinch of red pepper flakes.
    • While the ranch dressing mix has garlic powder and onion powder in it, you can add a little more to suit your taste if you like.

    Ingredients

    • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
    • 1 cup Buffalo sauce I use Frank's Buffalo Sauce
    • 2 tablespoons Ranch Seasoning Mix I use my homemade mix, but store-bought will work
    • 4 oz butter cut into slices
    • 3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened optional
    • Kosher Salt and Black Pepper
    Get Recipe Ingredients

    Instructions

    • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
      2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, Kosher Salt and Black Pepper
    • Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the slow cooker.
    • In a liquid measuring cup, mix the ranch seasoning and Buffalo sauce. Pour over the chicken.
      1 cup Buffalo sauce, 2 tablespoons Ranch Seasoning Mix
    • Place the butter on top of the chicken and cover.
      4 oz butter
    • Set the Crockpot to cook for 4 hours on HIGH or 6 hours on LOW.
    • Stir in the softened cream cheese (optional).
      3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
    • Remove the slow cooker Buffalo chicken and use two forks to shred the meat.
    • Serve with ranch dressing and/or crumbled blue cheese on sandwiches or salads.
