    💭 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about this simple fall dessert recipe.

Can I use fresh apples instead of pie filling?

Yes! Peel, core and slice your apples. You will need about 6-½ cups of apple slices for this recipe. This is approximately 8 medium-sized apples.

Which apples are best for baking?

My personal favorite apples are Honeycrisp or pink lady and I love how they hold up for baking. I don't particularly care for MacIntosh apples as they can become mealy and mushy. Here are some other apples that are great for baking: Jonagold, Cortland, Braeburn, and Fuji.
