If you liked the Rose Sugar Scrub that I shared recently, then I think you will also love these amazing rose petal bath salts you can also make at home. As my regular readers know, I love making my own homemade bath and beauty products.

Rose Sugar Scrub makes a great gift for a friend or loved one.

It's also perfect for pampering yourself!

While I love using these bath salts myself, I also find that they make a much-appreciated gift, perfect for birthdays, Mother's Day, teacher appreciation and even as stocking stuffers! Pair them with a couple of DIY beauty items like Soothing Bath Bombs and this Orange Sugar Lip Scrub.

Benefits of Using Rose Bath Salts

Soaking in a tub full of hot water with bath salt has a lot of fabulous benefits for your body, and your mind. Not only will it help you relax and unwind, but bath salts can soothe your skin and reduce muscle tension.

Ingredients for how to Make Rose Bath Salts. One white bowl filled with epsom salt. One glass bowl with rose petals, a vial of oil and a small spoon.

    Materials:

    • mixing bowl, measuring cups, mixing spoon, mason jars, and jar funnel (optional)
    • 2 cups Epsom salts - this is different from table salt - it is a magnesium sulfate compound. It can soothe tired muscles and help relieve stress.
    • ⅓ cup crushed rose petals - you can dry your own (an excuse to buy roses for yourself!) or you can purchase dried roses online.
    • 30 drops of rose essential oil - this essential oil may help to relieve stress and tension and may also have positive effects for those who suffer from anxiety and/or depression.

    Optional Ingredients:

    • ½ teaspoon mica powder - mica powder is a natural stone mineral that you can use to add color to your homemade bath and beauty items. Adding a little in a shade of pink makes your salt scrub look beautiful. However, you can totally skip this ingredient! If you choose to use it, look for a cosmetic grade. You can find mica powder online.
    • 2 teaspoons rosehip oil - this can be a little pricey but if you have it on hand, add it! Rosehip oil is fabulous for your skin and helps with cell regeneration.

How to Make Rose Bath Salts

This 'recipe' makes about 2 cups.

    1. Start by crushing the rose petals. I like to grind them fairly small so that they easily slide down the drain when I'm done.
    2. In a small bowl, combine the Epsom salts and crushed rose petals.
    3. Add in the remaining ingredients you want to use and mix together.
    4. Use the jar funnel (optional) to transfer the bath salts into a jar and seal tightly.

Store your bath salts in a clean, dry area for 3 months. If you choose not to use any oils, you can store it for up to 6 months.

How to take an Epsom Salt Detox Bath

When you are getting your bath ready, use very warm water, but not too hot. Aim to be between 92°F and 100°F (33°C and 37°C) if you can. Add 2 cups of Epsom salts and soak for at least 10-20 minutes - longer if desired. Try to take your bath so that you'll have time to rest afterward.

To make your rose-scented bath soak even more luxurious, add a handful of fresh rose petals to the bath water.

Homemade Shower Steamer - These rose-scented shower steamers are a nice way to treat yourself when you don't have time to soak in the tub.
