Little girl holds a Road Trip Ideas Free Printable Bucket List and marker.

Family road trips can be a super fun way to create special memories. We've had incredible trips to see Niagara Falls, West Quoddy Lighthouse - the Easternmost point in the US, and Fort Myers to name a few.

Road trips can also be really, really looooong.  Planning some fun activities for the car can really help keep everyone entertained along the way.  If you have a trip coming up, then you will want to check out the road trip ideas I have shared in The ULTIMATE Road Trip Packing List post which includes a free printable.

Speaking of freebies, I have another for you, it's this road trip bucket list.  With this fun printable, the whole family can look forward to checking some iconic road trip activities off the list.  Some of these include:

    • find a landmark
    • grab drive-thru grub
    • play a game
    • take a group selfie
    • stop for ice cream

Plus, we left a spot for you to add your own item for a total of 12 items to check off.  If you plan ahead a little, you can easily work these items into your family road trip.  Find spots along your route to stop off for a scenic spot or visit a landmark.  Of course, there's something to be said for spontaneity, too.  Leave a little time for extra stops, like a roadside ice cream stand!

    • Use cardstock for durability
    • Under your printer settings, select the highest print quality
    • Be sure your printer is not running low on ink
    • Use a paper trimmer to cut the print down to 8×10 size

This is my favorite printer and has a 4-star rating with over 5000 reviews so I'm not the only one. It's inexpensive but works great.

    Family Road Trip Tip

Listening to audio books is great for road trips because it not only helps to pass the time, but it keeps the kids entertained without screens. We're big fans of listening to a book series because it's so fun to get engrossed in a set of characters and their world.

Here are some of our favorite books that we've listened to as a family:

    • Magic Treehouse - these are a great value since you get books 1-8 for just one credit!
    • The Penderwicks
    • The Ramona Quimby Audio Collection - a total of 8 books including Ramona Quimby, age 8 which was my daughter's favorite when she was also 8.
    • The Boxcar Children
    • The Roald Dahl Collection - this collection includes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James & the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Enormous Crocodile, and The Magic Finger.
    • Harry Potter
    • Percy Jackson

Check out my Amazon storefront for more of our favorite audio books.
