I adore baking cookies for my family and these are a holiday favorite! A batch of red velvet crinkle cookies takes less than 30 minutes to make and bake.

Because we're starting with a boxed cake mix, there's no need to fuss with tons of measuring or food coloring. The cake mix already has all the dry ingredients like cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder so you don't need to worry about any of those things. In fact, there are just 4 ingredients!

    🧂 Ingredients

This is meant to be a brief overview of this great recipe. For step-by-step instructions and a full printable recipe card with ingredients, please scroll down to the teal box below.

    ⭐ Ang's Tips

✔️ You may find it helpful to chill the dough for 30 minutes before handling.

✔️ Cake mix cookies are usually best the first or second day. They don't hold up as well as scratch-made cookies, in my opinion.

    🫙 Storage

To Store: Red Velvet Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for 5-6 days. (These are my favorite airtight containers.) Be sure the cookies have cooled to room temperature before storing.

To Freeze Dough: To freeze, portion the cookie dough on a baking sheet - but do not roll them in powdered sugar. Flash freeze for one hour. Place all the frozen cookie dough balls into a freezer bag. Seal tight and label. Frozen cookie dough will last up to 3 months.

Cookies can be baked from frozen (they will need a little bit more time.

To Freeze Baked Cookies: Double bag the cookies before freezing. Baked cookies will last 3-4 weeks in the freezer.

To Thaw: Place the frozen cookies into the fridge and allow them to thaw overnight.

Note: Dip the thawed cookies into the powdered sugar just before baking.

    📖 Variations
