    Memorable Anini Beach Kauai

Anini Beach Kauai is forever etched in my mind as the perfect Hawaiian beach. White sand, warm sea breezes and gentle waves are just a few charms of this special spot.

Beautiful Anini Beach in Kauai is the perfect family friendly spot.

Today is my sister Katie's 5 year wedding anniversary. She was married on Anini Beach Kauai, which is considered to be one of the best beaches on the island. The weather that day was absolutely perfect, with bright sun and calm breezes.

We walked barefoot across the beach to a secluded little cove and stood in a semi-cricle around Katie and Kelby, with the ocean gently lapping the shore. During the ceremony, it felt as though the whole world was at peace in this idyllic setting. It was truly breathtaking. After that, there was lots of laughing as we took loads of photographs. These are a few of my favorites.

My sister looked so radiant in her gown and lei - a sign of love and respect. Above all, I don't think I'll ever forget the way her eyes shined that day!

However, Anini Beach Kauai isn't just for spectacular wedding ceremonies. There are plenty of fun ways to enjoy this beach.

    Anini Beach

Over two miles long, Anini is a narrow reef-protected beach that offers stunning views. Unlike many beaches in Hawaii, the waves at Anini break far out making it a fabulous spot for swimmers and snorkelers. Because of this, it is an especially good beach for families with young children.

What is there to do at Anini Beach Kauai?

It's a beautiful place to spend the day enjoying incredible Hawaiian sea breezes!

    Snorkling

The reef is one of the largest in Hawaii and it's a well known spot for snorkling. Here you'll find Hawaiian green sea turtles, known locally as honu. Keep in mind it is illegal to touch them.

While snorkling you can also expect to see humuhumunukunukuapua’a - the state fish of Hawaii. You may also see unicornfish, sea horses, and suregonfish.

    Swimming

There is no lifeguard at Anini Beach but is considered one of the safer beaches during the summertime. However, it is known to have strong currents outside the protective wreath and in the channels.

    Windsurfing

The beach is known for great windsurfing conditions. Visitors can even take lessons.

    Anini Beach Park

The beach is park of Anini Beach Park which includes over 12 acres with pavilions for picnics and comfort stations. There are lots of trees for shade, too. The park includes a boat ramp. This is also a popular spot for camping.

What are some other beaches on Kauai?

All the beaches in Hawaii are open to the public (except for a few government areas).

    • Hanalei Bay Beach is the most popular one on the north shore.
    • Kee Beach is gorgeous but can be very crowded so it's best visited early in the morning. The parking lot is often full by 10am!
    • Anahola Beach is quieter spot great for families.
    • At Poipu Beach on the southern shore, you can see endangered specific of Hawaiian monk seals at Nukumoi Point.

Hawaii Beach Safety maintains an excellent website with information about current conditions that you may find useful.
