Bacon is a favorite food for everyone in my family. There's something about the smoky flavor and the crispiness - it's just so good!

I love this method of cooking bacon on the grill because you don't need a frying pan, grill pan, or cast iron skillet. Just place the pieces of bacon directly onto the grill grates over indirect heat.

Now, the key to cooking bacon on the grill is to cook it over indirect heat. This will reduce flare ups or the potential of a grease fire. Plus it cooks the bacon evenly.

❤️ Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • One of the main benefits of grilling bacon is that you don't have to deal with bacon drippings or your whole house having that bacon smell.
    • Make a huge batch all at one time and use it throughout the week for salads, sandwiches, and much more.

    🧂 Ingredients

    • thick-cut bacon
    • vegetable oil

This is meant to be a brief overview of this great recipe. For step-by-step instructions and a full printable recipe card with ingredients, please scroll down to the teal box below or Jump to Recipe.

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Start with a clean grill. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
    2. Lightly brush a little bit of oil onto the grill grates.
    3. Once your gas grill is hot, place pieces of bacon across the grill grates over indirect heat.
    4. Reduce the heat.
    5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
    6. Remove cooked bacon from the hot grill and place on a paper towel lined baking sheet.

    ⭐ Tips

✔️ Use thick-cut bacon. Because center-cut bacon is leaner, it will stick and burn.

✔️ Clean the grill grates before starting.

✔️ Lightly grease the grill grates with a little bit of oil to help keep the bacon from sticking.

✔️ Arrange the strips of bacon in a single layer so they cook evenly.

✔️ Bacon cooks quickly. Keep a close eye on the bacon as it can burn easily.

Crispy bacon is perfect for breakfast of course, but also sprinkled over soups and salads.

    🍲 Storage

Store leftover bacon in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days - if it lasts that long!!

    📖 Variations

The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make bacon on the grill, you might want to try one of these ideas:

    • Season with black pepper, or get adventurous and sprinkle bacon with Pork Rub Seasoning or Cowboy Steak Rub before grilling.
    • Brush the bacon with your favorite BBQ sauce while cooking. (BBQ bacon is pretty awesome!)
    • For candied bacon, sprinkle the bacon strips with brown sugar and cook on the grill until carmelized.
    • Brush the strips of bacon with maple syrup.

    🍴 Serving Suggestions

The ways to use your crispy bacon is nearly endless. Mix it into your savory scone batter, combine it into maple butter, or sprinkle some on top of your favorite cheesy casserole.

It's great for BLT sandwiches, on top of potato soup or baked potatoes, and baked with cheesy ranch tater tots.
