📖 Variations
The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make our recipe, you might want to try one of these ideas:
- You can also use ground beef or ground chicken to make a meat sauce for this Greek pasta.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten free pasta.
- If you're watching your carbs, you can also make a low-carb casserole by swapping out the pasta for zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash.
- Use fresh mozzarella cheese in place of the feta.
- For additional freshness add your favorite fresh herbs. I especially like fresh basil in casserole.
- You could also add chopped red onion or green bell pepper on top.
- For even more flavor, add a little bit of spaghetti seasoning or Mediterranean seasoning to the tomato sauce.
