These Gold Cake Pops are a breeze to make and everyone will love them!

I looked all over for the gold coins and finally found them in the bulk food section of my grocery store. If you can't find them in a local store, order them online instead.

You can use this same method using different cake flavors or even brownies like our Brownie Truffles or Red Velvet Cake Balls.

    🧂 Ingredients

    • baked sheet cake, any flavor
    • frosting
    • Chocolate Candy Wafers
    • Gold Coin Candies
    • mixed Gold Sprinkles

    🔪Instructions

This is meant to be a brief overview of the recipe. For step-by-step instructions and a full printable recipe card with ingredients, please scroll down to the teal box below or Jump to Recipe.

    1. Start with a completely cooled bake. Cut it in half and add the frosting to a stand mixer.
    2. Use a paddle attachment to mix the cake and frosting into a play-doh consistency.
    3. Measure out 1 tablespoon of the mixture to make your cake balls. Roll smooth and refrigerate while melting the chocolate wafers.
    4. Melt the chocolate wafers according the directions until it's 100% melted and completely smooth.
How to Make Homemade Cake Pops - hand rolling cake pops and placing them on a baking sheet.

    Cake Pops

    1. For the cake pops, dip the stick into the melted chocolate and then insert into the cake ball.
    2. Dip the cake pop and then stand it with the cake pop down, candy apple style, to dry.
    3. You want a flat bottom to create what will become a flat top. When all your pops are done, dip the flat bottom into the chocolate and dip a gold coin edge and attach the two together.
    4. Spoon the gold sprinkles over top to cover the wet chocolate. You'll have to work quickly before it hardens. Stand up to dry.

    Truffles

    1. For the truffles, dip a gold coin into the melted chocolate and press it into the cake ball.
    2. When you've added the coins to the ball, use the coin as a handle and carefully dip into the melted chocolate.
    3. Tap off the excess and place down on wax paper. Spoon over the gold sprinkles from the top.
    4. Allow to completely dry.

    ⏲️ Storage

The best way to keep these is to put them in an airtight container, not a plastic bag. The chocolate coating is best when it is not touching anything. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

    🍴 Serving Suggestions

This is an easy St. Patrick's Day Cake Pop idea or you can use it for a Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed party. They would also be great to celebrate a promotion or retirement.
