Everyone will love these peppermint brownies, and the flavor can't be beaten! There's something about the combination of chocolate with peppermint that is just divine.
When it comes to desserts, there's nothing that I love more than chocolate! There's just something about it that makes desserts totally magical. Of course, I have a sweet tooth that rivals no other.
My mom is a huge fan of chocolate and peppermint, and I know she will love this recipe. I can't wait to make these for her when we go to Maine again for Christmas.
Ingredients
- Brownie mix, plus the ingredients called for on the box
- Mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Peppermint extract
- Powdered sugar
- Butter
- Milk
- Peppermint Candies or Candy Canes

Variations
Here are a couple of ideas to make these chocolate peppermint brownies all your own:
- Replace the vanilla extract with pure peppermint extract in the brownie mixture.
- Sprinkle the top of the iced brownies with mini chocolate chips for even more chocolatey goodness!
- Instead of peppermint icing, drizzle with melted white or dark chocolate and top with candy cane pieces.
- These are chewy brownies. For cake-like brownies, add 1 extra egg.
For peppermint cream cheese frosting, substitute half the butter for room-temperature cream cheese.

Ang's Recipe Tips
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before icing them.
- Start with room-temperature butter.
- Place your peppermint candies in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to break them up. (This is super fun for kids!)
Storage
To Store: Store leftover brownies in an airtight container for 3-4 days. I like to keep mine in the fridge, but they can be kept at room temperature as well. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)
