If you enjoy entertaining and gathering outdoors, you're going to love this list of DIY lawn games to make your events even more fun. You'll find lots of easy-to-make options like Jenga, hopscotch, and a football toss board. None of these projects require loads of DIY experience. They're all relatively simple and can be completed in a weekend—most in just a few hours, in fact.

Ready to get the party started? Scan this list, grab your materials and tools, and build one of these fun outdoor games today.

DIY Lawn Games to Build This Summer

Giant jenga blocks pictured on concrete next to green grass.

Giant Jenga from Creative Green Living: Jenga is a favorite game for young and old alike. The rules are easy to understand, and it's easy to play! Plus, it's a straightforward woodworking project that's terrific for beginner DIYers.

This truly is such a fun outdoor game. Giant Jenga game is the perfect game for a barbecue, picnic, or another outdoor get-together.

Wooden Tic Tac Toe game with wooden blocks.

Wooden Tic Tac Toe Game from Cookies, Coffee, and Crafts: Here's another simple DIY that doesn't require expert-level skill. You can make your own verison of the classic game Tic Tac Toe using 4x4s, a 1x2, some rope, and a bit of paint. The X's and O's can easily be traded out for other symbols, such as a flower and insect, a sun and a cloud, or even favorite sports teams logos.

Easy Homemade Lawn Games - Hopscotch made from rainbow painted pavers.

Rainbow Paver Hopscotch from Happiness is Homemade: Get the kids moving with an easy-peasy hopscotch game made with pavers and a bit of paint. For small kids, push the pavers together. For older kids with a larger stride, push the pavers further apart. Looks fun right? Grab your spray paint and get started on this simple game.

Giant Yahtzee from Make Life Lovely: We can't get over these giant, bright pink yard die! They're perfect for an outdoor game of Yahtzee, but you can use them in other games, as well. This really is hours of fun for the whole family!

Play in the backyard, at the park, or take them to the beach. You never know where you'll find the perfect opportunity to play a few rounds.

DIY Bean Bag Toss game in the grass.

DIY Bean Bag Toss from Mod Podge Rocks: A good ol' bean bag toss is a super simple DIY that you can easily pull together in a day. It's even easier if you buy your beanbags, but of course, you can DIY your own if you'd like.

The numbered clay saucers make it easy to keep score, and the person with the highest score for each round of bean bags is the winner. This game is a great way to work on colors, numbers and hand-eye coordination with young children.

    More Homemade Yard Games

Easy DIY Lawn Games - Outdoor Plinko Game with a scoreboard.

Backyard Plink Party Game from Happiness is Homemade: Do you remember Plinko from The Price is Right? That was one of my favorite games to watch! Now you can play with family and friends by making your own version.

This fun game is made out of foam board, so it'll need to be brought back inside after each use. If you know this is a game your family will love and play often, consider making an outdoor version with sturdier materials.

Kubb outdoor game - wooden blocks in the grass.

DIY Kubb Game from Our Handcrafted Life: Have you ever played Kubb before? It's also known as Skulls and Femurs or Viking Chess, which admittedly sounds a little gory, but the game is a lot of fun.

You don't need anything fancy at all—throwing sticks made from dowels, short blocks, and a king block all made from a 4x4. The throwing sticks are used to try to knock over the other team's blocks, followed by the king. It's so easy, and the games go quickly.

DIY ring toss game in the grass.

DIY Ring Toss Game from Anika's DIY Life: A ring toss game is self-explanatory, but you'll love this easily collapsible version that you can take with you to any outdoor gathering. Making the rings out of rope is a brilliant idea; they're sturdy and have a bit of heft to them, which makes tossing them easier.

This is another great game for working on hand-eye coordination for kids and so much fun, too.

Outdoor checkers game in the grass.

Outdoor Checkers from The Country Chic Cottage: If you're looking for a game you can play at the table, try this outdoor checkers game. Wood slices, a wood panel, and some paint are all you need to get this game up and ready to go.

I especially love that you can make these game pieces out of scrap wood!

DIY Football Toss Homemade Lawn Game

DIY Football Toss from Cherished Bliss: Work on your aim with this quick and fun football toss board. You get more points for tossing the football into the smaller hole. You can also increase the difficulty by standing farther back from the board.

    Outdoor Scoreboard pictured outdoors.

Outdoor Scoreboard from Houseful of Handmade: Want a way to keep score of all your DIY lawn games? This outdoor scoreboard will be invaluable, particularly if you're in a competitive family who takes their scoring very seriously! You can use it for a variety of fun yard games like kickball, touch football and more.

Pin this list of DIY lawn games to have plenty of easy projects to carry you through summer and fall. Which of these fun backyard games will you try first??
