This Cranberry Butter is perfect for the holidays! I love making my own flavored compound butters. They are so easy yet impressive and make a lovely housewarming gift.

Small jar of cranberry butter compound with a spoon.
Cranberry Compound Butter is perfect for the holidays, but you don't have to wait until cranberry season to make it!

Garlic Chive Butter on baked potatoes is just heavenly! But if sweet is more your thing, you have to try my Brown Sugar Butter - both are so, so good on a stack of pancakes, or homemade toast.

This time of year, it's nice to have a few small things on hand for hostess gifts, and this is one you can literally whip together in no time and keep in the refrigerator for about two weeks.

You can make up two or three ahead of time and just grab one on your way out the door. Add a fresh loaf of local bread or some tasty crackers and a pretty ribbon, and you've got a thoughtful little gift.

This delicious recipe is one of our 50+ Best Thanksgiving Recipes!

    Ingredients

    • Unsalted Butter: Using unsalted butter means that you can control the amount of salt in the recipe.
    • Whole Cranberry Sauce: Grab a can of whole berry cranberry sauce from the grocery store. This will save you lots of time and effort over using fresh cranberries.
    • Honey: Adds sweetness. You can also substitute agave nectar.
    • Sea Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the cranberry flavor.

Optional: if you like the flavor of oranges, add a little bit of orange zest to this cranberry butter recipe.

Hi Ilene - you can absolutely freeze cranberry butter! Whether you are making logs or putting it into jars, I recommend putting it into a freezer bag to help keep it fresh. If you put it into jars, be sure to leave a little headspace as the butter mixture will expand when it freezes. In optimal conditions, it will keep up to 3 months. ENJOY!
