    ⭐ Ang's Tips

✔️ Start with the garlic paste at room temperature so it does not melt the butter.

✔️ Roasted garlic is the most essential ingredient and your butter won't taste the same if you use raw butter.

✔️ Use low-sodium soy sauce and unsalted butter to control the amount of salt in the garlic butter spread. You can season it with kosher salt to taste.

    💭 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about this recipe.

    What is Benihana?

If you've never heard of it, Benihana's is a Japanese restaurant chain known for teppanyaki-style cooking.
This garlic butter is served often with grilled meats and roasted vegetables. You're going to love it!

What is the difference between butter and compound butter?

Compound butter is made with regular unsalted or salted butter that is mixed with spices, herbs, or other flavorings.
Compound butter is popular at restaurants but easy to make at home.

    🍲 Storage

To Store: Leftover copycat Benihana butter should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last 1-2 weeks in the fridge. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)

To Freeze: Transfer the mixture to a freezer bag. Seal and label. Frozen compound butter will last for 1-3 months in the freezer.

To Thaw: Place in the fridge overnight to thaw.

    📖 Variations

The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make our recipe, you might want to try one of these ideas:

You can dress up your Japanese garlic butter further with sliced green onions or a little sprinkle of sesame seeds.

    Benihana Garlic Butter Sauce

To make this into a dipping sauce, melt the butter before mixing it with all the ingredients. Serve warm.
