Rochester Zoo - Seneca Park Zoo

    [published_or_updated] · by Angela Paris · 2 Comments[affiliate_disclosure]

Visiting the Rochester Zoo was one of the highlights of our summer road trip!

There are so many amazing exhibits at the Seneca Park Zoo!

This post about the Rochester Zoo has been sponsored by the Seneca Park Zoo Society.  As always, all opinions are my own. #ad #SenecaParkZoo #VisitROC #FamilyTravel #ConnectCareConserve

We were really impressed with all the stations throughout the Rochester zoo teaching guests more about the animals and their habitats with hands on materials. The staff at the Seneca Park Zoo is super knowledgeable and friendly!  Kids (and grownups, too!) were invited to feel a tiger pelt or learn about the types of vitamins that are given to animals to help them stay healthy.   The zoo really put education at the forefront, not just relying on plaques to give information.

The zoo is home to many species, including these:

    • American Alligators
    • Snow Leopards
    • Gray Wolves
    • Canada Lynx
    • Sandhill Cane
    • African Black-Footed Penquin
    • California Sea Lions
    • African Elephants
    • Olive Baboons

These were some that we saw, and were Ethan and Olivia's favorites!  The zoo is expanding.  They are adding more animals including giraffes, zebras and also a tram.  We can't wait to go back!

Our most favorite exhibit was the lions, which can be view from several vantage points.  Their large Savannah habitat gives them plenty of places to roam.  The best viewing spot during our trip was inside a safari vehicle.  There, we saw a female lion napping right on the front of the vehicle.  The kids were just in awe of being able to see her so close.  We really got a great sense of just how big these "big cats" really are!
