We're taking a classic lemon drop cocktail and making it a mermaid drink by adding Midori and Blue Curacao.

The combination of green Midori and Blue Curacao are perfect for mixing up a mermaid drink! These two liqueurs can be very sweet, so adding lemon juice and vodka balances out the mermaid cocktail.

    💭 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about this recipe.

How do you make simple syrup?

    1. Bring water to a low boil and add in sugar.
    2. Remove from heat immediately and stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
    3. Set aside to cool to room temperature and thicken before use.

    What is Midori?

Midori is a bright green colored liqueur that works beautifully in tropical drinks because of its melon flavor. It may be best known in the Midori Sour cocktail, which it is traditionally mixed with sweet and sour mix and lime juice.
Try pairing Midori over ice with pineapple juice and a lemon-lime soda for a refreshing drink. (This Midori Sour Cocktail is also a delicious way to check it out!)

    What is Blue Curacao?

Blue Curacao is a liqueur made with citrus fruit, somewhat like an orange, that grows on Curacao in the Caribbean. It is also perfect for fruity tropical drinks and mixes well with rum.
My favorite is a Blue Hawaiian made with coconut rum, blue curacao, and pineapple juice.

    Serving Suggestions

I love serving this grown-up drink for a grown-up pool party. It's perfect for a hot summer day! Garnish with a tropical drink umbrella, maraschino cherries, and lime slices, if desired.

    Mermaid Drink Mocktail

To make a non-alcoholic version of this drink combine the following:

    • ½ cup lemon lime soda
    • ½ cup blue Hawaiian punch
    • 2 tablespoons lemonade

Garnish with maraschino cherries and lemon or lime slices.

Like our cotton candy mocktails, this drink is great for kids' birthday parties. Wouldn't this be fun for a Little Mermaid themed party?

    😋 Similar Recipes

My most popular cocktail, Tropical Rum Punch, looks similar but has rum instead of vodka.  As you might have noticed, I enjoy my adult beverages to be fruity and sweet, like this Pineapple Cocktail.

I used Bacardi superior white rum instead of vodka and it gave it a sweet twist! Would definitely recommend it!

Could you use lemonade instead of simple syrup & lemon juice? Or what about pineapple juice?

Yes, either of those options will work. It will change the flavor slightly, of course. Enjoy!

I made these exactly as written (except I garnished it with a slice of orange) for my future sister-in-law's bachelorette party and everyone loved them. Thank you!
