Raise your hand if getting a healthy breakfast on the table is a struggle in the morning. You can't see it but my hand is raised high. That's why this Instant Pot Oatmeal Recipe is pretty much genius.

In just about half an hour you can have hot oatmeal on the table with delicious toppings like fruit, nuts, and seeds. Did I mention the chocolate chips? Your kids will love it and you can throw it in the Instant Pot when you get up and it will be ready when the kids finally make their way to the table.

It's my favorite way to get a hot breakfast in my kids on busy school mornings. They can't get enough of its creamy texture and delicious toppings.

Let me show you how to make it. (PS - You can also make a big batch for use all week!)

    🧂 Ingredients

The best part about this recipe is that you only need a few simple ingredients!

    • Steel cut or rolled oats
    • Milk or almond milk
    • Cinnamon
    • Toppings: fruit (fresh or dried), chocolate chips, nuts, flax seeds, maple syrup, brown sugar, etc.

    🔪Instructions

    2. Use the manual setting on high - 3 minutes for rolled oats or 6 minutes for steel-cut oats
    3. Let the pot natural pressure release for 20 minutes
    4. Carefully release valve to release the remaining pressure

Store leftovers in the refrigerator 3-5 days in an airtight container. Reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until the oatmeal is hot.

    💭 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about this recipe.

What's the difference between rolled oats and quick oats?

Quick oats are also known as quick-cooking oats. They are rolled oats that go through more processing to help decrease the cooking time. They are partially cooked and rolled thinner than old fashion oats.

    Is oatmeal healthy?

Oats are among some of the healthiest grains on earth. They are gluten-free, whole, grain, and have many health benefits.

How do you keep oatmeal from burning in the Instant Pot?

Use a lower heat setting and use more liquid to keep the oats from drying out. You can also cook them for a shorter amount of time. Burning can be caused by using the wrong setting for the type of oats you’re cooking.
