I've shared a recipe for Puff Pastry Twists before, but this might just be my favorite version yet. These bacon puff pastry twists are the perfect brunch side or snack. Everything is better with bacon right?

You guys these are so easy to make - and with only 5 ingredients they don't break the bank either. I just know you'll love them. And with the variations I've included, you can tailor them to your tastes quickly and easily. Don't like Parmesan cheese? No problem! You can substitute any hard cheese you like. I promise it will be delicious.

Let me show you how to make my bacon puff pastry twists so you can put together a batch this week.

Bacon puff pastry twists sit on top of a white plate. In the foreground is a torn twist being held by a hand.

    Ingredients

    • Puff Pastry Dough: I prefer to use refrigerator puff pastry over frozen puff pastry for this recipe.
    • Parmesan Cheese: Using freshly grated parmesan cheese will offer the best flavor. Instead of parmesan cheese, pecorino romano also tastes great.
    • Bacon: This recipe will work with any kind of bacon, including turkey bacon, thick-cut bacon, or low-sodium bacon.
    • Egg + Water: Brushing the puff pastry with an egg wash will help the cheese and seasonings adhere to the twists. If you love Dijon mustard, substitute 2 tablespoons to the egg wash mixture instead of water.
    • Seasonings: Dried basil and black pepper will enhance the overall flavor. Instead of basil, you can try dried rosemary or dried sage.

What kind of puff pastry did you use? Are these the frozen sheets that come folded in thirds? Or are they the canned sheets of crescent roll dough? This sounds yummy!

Hi Chris, I actually use a brand called Jus-Rol which you can find in the refrigerator section at your local grocery store. I like it because it's not frozen and it's better quality than crescent roll dough. All you have to do is open the package and unroll it - no thawing, no rolling pin, super easy 🙂

I made these except I omitted the basil. I thought...how could I make these into a BLT appetizer? In my food processor I had miracle whip, tomatoes and lettuce. I roughly chopped them. It was amazing!!! We did have to use a baby spoon because you don't want it runny but the results were just like a BLT!
